    1. Rugby World Cup Sevens
      5:45 pm – 6:45 pm

      The 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens, to be held at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, and it will be the sixth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens.

      The International Rugby Board has stated that the Rugby World Cup Sevens will be scrapped if rugby sevens were to be included in the Olympic programme for the 2016 Summer Olympics. As the International Olympic Committee have voted for the sport’s inclusion, this is likely to be the last edition of the tournament.

    1. World Aquatics Convention (all-day)

      On 29th October 2012 the 2nd FINA World Aquatics Convention will open gathering together leaders from the international aquatics community in Moscow, Russia in advance of 2015 FINA World Championships, which will take place in the “Sports Capital of Russia” – Kazan.

      The decision to locate the FINA World Aquatics Convention in Moscow was as a result of the fantastic cooperation of the Russian Olympic Committee and the vision of the city of Kazan.

      The convention is part of the plan to create and deliver a sustainable programme for aquatic sports before, during and after the FINA Championships have been held in 2015.

      A key benefit will also be felt by FINA’s 202 National Federations that will be able to experience Russian hospitality, and start discussions with the 2015 Organising Committee well in advance of the event to assist planning and preparations of the huge logistical operation ahead.Learn more about the 2nd FINA World Aquatics Convention and how to participate.

      Key Facts about Kazan

      - Kazan is the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia and has a population of 1.2 mln people making it the sixth largest city of Russia.

      - Kazan has 40 swimming pools, with a population that participates in both amateur and competitive aquatic disciplines.

      - Kazan will host the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013.

      - In 2005 Kazan celebrated its 1,000th anniversary.

      - A city with a large number of historical sites, Kazan is on the list of the UNESCO world heritage cities.

      - In 2004, Kazan was named the best Russian city and won the All-Russian public award “Russian National Olympus”.

      - In April 2009, the Russian Patent Office granted Kazan the right to brand itself as the “Third Capital” of Russia. In 2009 it was named the “Sports Capital of Russia”.

      - The 2015 FINA World Championships will be served by Kazan International Airport, which is located approximately 15 kilometres from Kazan. Also OC 2015 will organize connection flights through three Moscow airports (Sheremetievo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo) to provide convenient transfer of participants to Kazan.

      - The Kazan Airport will be modernised in preparation for hosting the Summer Universiade 2013, with the construction of two new terminals, increasing capacity to 3.2 million passengers a year. In early 2013 construction of the third terminal will start increasing capacity again up to 5.2 million passengers a year by 2015 in time for the FINA World Championships.

      Perspectives of Kazan

      Hosting the FINA World Championship in Kazan will make a significant impetus for the promotion of aquatic sports in the city and the Republic in general.

      The city will benefit from the building of new aquatics venues providing facilities for all levels of aquatics competitions delivery, and create new opportunities for the youth of Kazan to participate in regular sports activities, promoting healthy living.

      Hosting the prestigious FINA World Championships will attract the attention of the international community, building awareness of Kazan and its thousand year-old history encouraging more people to visit the city in the future.

      There will be a significant economic impact as a result of hosting the FINA World Championships, with the creation of jobs associated with building the venues and operating them for local user groups for decades after the Championships.       Our DMC is planning to take part in one of the most interesting Sport Furums this fall. Sochi will be hosting the major peace-making sports event, the 6th Peace and Sport International Forum in October 2012.

      The event will become an integral part of a dedicated Sochi 2014 Olympic Truce concept, already being developed into real peace-making initiatives that are leaving a sustainable legacy today and resulting in major transformational changes across Russia

      In line with the efforts of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee to actively encourage dialogue between cultures and nations, the Peace and Sport International Forum 2012 in Sochi, its first ever international iteration, will help build greater understanding, friendship and respect across borders.

      The host of sport award ceremony

      The Winter Amphitheater located right in the downtown of Sochi, Russia will host the 5th edition of the Peace and Sport Awards Ceremony. This prestigious monument uses to host major artistic events (opera, ballet, concert…) in the Host City of the Winter Olympic Games 2014!

      Conference center

      Grand Hotel Polyana, located in the very heart of Sochi national park, will host delegates and conference center of the Peace and Sport International Forum 2012. The park is famous for its unique canyons, waterfalls, caves and ancient dolmens. More than 50 species of the floral environment are listed in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation including common yew, Pitsunda pine, several species of snowdrops, and Colchis boxwood.

      The tournament in honor of the great Russian boxer Gennady Shatkov has been a start up for many famous champions. Hundreds of young men from various countries fill participate in the event this year.

      The annual N. Panin–Kolomenkin International Figure Skating Tournament is famous not only in Russia, but also in Ukraine, Belorussia, Finland and the Baltic countries.

    3. N. Panin–Kolomenkin International Figure Skating Tournament (all-day)

      The first Panin–Kolomenkin International Figure Skating Tournament was held in St. Petersburg in 1957. 1987 was the last year when the competition was held in the USSR. And  20 years later the tournament was revived. This year figure skaters from Ukraine, Belorussia, Finland and Baltic countries will meet in St. Petersburg.

      The annual Vladimir Salnikov International Swimming Competition will be held on the 1st of December.

      Applications to compete in the International Vladimir Salnikov Cup Swimming Tournament will open on 1 October 2012.

      The seventh international annual Worldloppet Cross will be held in  Demino, Rybinsk. Today ski marathons are exceptionally popular in Russia. Competitors from all over the world will join the event.
